Remote observations

BIOBSERVE provides turnkey remote observation and recording solutions. All signals can be recorded as full screen signals with a synchronized timeline.
Thus we obtain the full flexibility for further data processing.
With our solutions it is very easy to work with multi-camera/multi-location scenarios in a very comfortable way.
You can decide which signals you want to see in which resolution, define setups of certain camera combinations for easy and fast access or configure time controlled recordings.

Remote observation systems provide a lot of advantages:

You can save time and money
You don't need to travel to the locations where you want to acquire observational data

You can observe several locations simultaneously
You can log on to several observation sites simultaneously and focus on a certain location if something interesting happens

You can invite people from all over the world to share your observation sessions
You can share the live signals (video, audio, etc.) from the observation sites with other people all over the world and discuss in real time what is going on.
Take a look at our
Audience software tool that is used to share signals of observational labs with distant observers.

How does it work?
Basically all signals (video, audio, etc.) are transformed to so called "data streams" that are sent through the standard computer network. Like a computer in a network, the used devices (camera, etc.) have an IP address and somebody who knows this IP address and has the appropriate permissions to access the device can log on and watch the streamed video signal.
Of course you can combine the remote system with our
Spectator Software Suite for observational data acquisition & Analysis.

This is a scheme of a remote recording system.
All signals (five cameras, one monitor and one audio signal) are streamed via the computer network to the control room.
Four of the cameras are standard network cameras that can stream directly.
One camera is an analog camera and the analog video signal and the audio signal are converted into streams using a video server.
The monitor signal is converted into a stream with our
Digital Recording Box.
All signals are streamed in real time and recorded for offline usage.
This system runs typically for 6-8 hours and records 40-50 GB of data during this time.

Security issues and data privacy
Of course all streamed signals are password protected and can only be watched by people with the appropriate permissions and authentications.

Communication
Remote observation is not a one-way street. Of course two-way communication is possible so you can communicate with the people at the remote location via the network.

Quality
The quality (video resolution, frames per second, sound quality) of the streamed signals depends on the available bandwidth of the network.

We use standard network cameras as well as our own streaming and recording technology to synchronize all signals and to provide you solutions tailored to your needs. Don't hesitate to contact us (e-mail) with your individual requirements.

Take a look at the user story "Recording and Analyzing Team Work in an Operating Room" to see an example of a remote observation solution and watch a movie of a recording of several video streams made with a remote systems to see how synchronized video streams look like.
